Advanced Search

Search for child care facilities by using keywords associated with the facility. (Ex. By entering "Portage" into the text box and clicking on the button "Facility Name", you will see a list of all the child care facilities in Manitoba that have the word "Portage" within their name.)

Bilingual Program (French & English)

Children's programming is conducted in English & French.

Casual Care

Occasional care which is provided within a licensed facility. Parents should contact the facility directly regarding availability of casual care hours.

Child Care Centre

A child care facility where care is provided for more than 4 hours/day, for more than 3 days/week to more than 5 preschool age children or more than 8 school age children.

Facility Licence

The licence indicates whether the centre or home meets the necessary requirements outlined in government legislation and regulations. The licence also indicates the maximum number and ages of children that may be cared for at one time. The licence may be issued as a regular or provisional licence.

Family Child Care Home

A child care facility operated out of the child care provider's home for up to 8 children, including a maximum of 5 preschool children, of whom no more than 3 are less than 2 years of age.

Francais Program

Children's programming is conducted solely in French. Program is suitable for children who have French as their first language.

French Immersion

Children's programming is conducted in French. Program is suitable for children who do not have French as their first language.

Group Child Care Home

A child care facility operated out of a child care provider's home where 2 providers care for up to 12 children of whom no more than 3 are less than 2 years of age.

Infant Aged Child

A child 12 weeks to 2 years of age.

Kindergarten Children

Preschool children enrolled in a kindergarten program in a public or private school who also attends a full time preschool or school age centre. Please check Program Highlights or contact the centre to determine if a specific School Age centre accepts kindergarten children.

Language(s) Spoken

Language(s) actually spoken within the facility.

Licensed Spaces

This identifies the capacity of the licensed facility, that is, the total number of children who can attend the centre or home at one time.

Licensing Order

A licensing order may be issued by the Director of the Manitoba Child Care Program against a licensed child care facility in circumstances where the facility is not being operated and maintained in compliance with the requirements in The Community Child Care Standards Act or regulations. The licensing order posted at the child care facility provides details as to the facility’s lack of compliance with the relevant sections of the Act or regulations. Further, the licensing order provides details as to the changes that are required to bring the facility into compliance with the Act or regulations.

Any bus routes near the facility posted for the parent's information.

Nearby Main Intersections

Any main intersections near the facility posted for the parent's information.

Nearby Schools

Any school near the child care facility. This may or may not be a location that the facility may escort children to upon request. Parents should call the facility for more information.

Next 10

Allows you view the next 10 facilities within your search results.

Nursery School

A child care facility where care is typically provided for 2 or 3 hours/day in a morning or afternoon session to preschool children.

Other Language Programs

Languages program is available in, other than or in addition to, the two official languages. Parents should contact the facility for more information.

Parent Volunteer

Means a parent or guardian of a child in the facility or a person regularly volunteering in place of the parent or guardian.

Part-Time Care

Care provided less than 4hrs/day, 5days or less/week or care provided more than 4hrs/day less than 5 days/week.

Preschool Child

A child 2 years to 6 years.

Program Highlights

Any feature that the child care facility may offer such as: lunch provided, transportation to school, fieldtrips or other programs. Program highlights may also include any association that the child care may be involved with such as: community centres, recreational programs, community service organizations. (Ex. YM-YWCA) Parents should call the facility for more information.

Provisional Licence

The provisional licence indicates that there are some areas that do not meet the required standards. These areas are listed on the provisional licence.

Regular Licence

The regular licence indicates that the centre or home meets the necessary requirements outlined in government legislation and regulations.

School Age Child

A child 6 years to 12 years of age enrolled in grade 1- 6 in a school.

School Age Child Care

A child care facility where care may be provided before and /or lunch and/or after school to children who are enrolled in kindergarten to grade 6 in a school. The facility may choose not to accept kindergarten children. Please contact the facility for more information.
